Fußlümmelei oder Sphärenharmonie? Intellektuelle und Fußball

Der Beitrag sucht nach Erklärungen für das wachsende Interesse der sog. Intellektuellenkultur am Phänomen Fußball und versucht, den gängigen Feuilletonisierungstendenzen ein Modell entgegenzusetzen, das Fußball als Fußball (und nicht als Philosophie-, Politik- oder Kunstersatz) ernst nimmt und intellektuell attraktiv erscheinen lässt.
This essay was a contribution to the event marking the 50th anniversary of the World Championship Final in Bern, conceived by "Kakanien revisited", organised together with the football magazine "Ballesterer", and realised with the help of "cenex", "picto", "die Drahtwarenhandlung" and the newspaper "Der Standard".
The article discusses various explanations for the growing interest of intellectuals in soccer. Contrary to the adoption of a Feuilleton-style in soccer-theories, soccer's intellectual attractivity is not based on the game's analogy with philosophy, politics, or art, but in the specific features of a soccer match itself.
