Publishing a New Europe or Transeuropean Networking? Visions, Experiences, and Results after Two Years of Revisiting Kakania / Central Europe

Autoren

Ursula Reber,  Vienna, Edmonton

This contribution investigates different concepts of "Europe" in the context of the coming EU-expansion and of academic networks. The author touches on problems of strong and codifying discourse that seem to be bound to appear in this framework of working together of "West" and "East". This phenomenon is also present in contemporary concepts of research, such as cultural or postcolonial studies. At hand of the internet platform "Kakanien revisited", established in 2001 and dedicated to research on Central, East and South-East European research, she self-critically addresses personal ways of dealing with these problems and temporary possibilities of solution.
