Presselandschaft in der Bukowina und den Nachbarregionen: Akteure - Inhalte - Ziele (1900-1945) war der Titel einer internationalen Konferenz, die vom Centre for European and International Studies Research (University of Portsmouth) und dem Institut für deutsche Kultur und Geschichte Südosteuropas (Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität München) vom 27. bis 30. März 2008 in Czernowitz (Ukraine) durchgeführt wurde. Dass Czernowitz als ehemalige Landeshauptstadt der Bukowina für diese Konferenz impulsgebend war, liegt auch in der Pressegeschichte begründet. Die multiethnische und -linguale Region generierte nach 1900 ein vielfältiges Pressewesen. Diese Vielfalt spiegelte sich auch in den Vorträgen der 14 Referentinnen und Referenten aus fünf Ländern wider. Die Darstellung der Akteure, der Periodikainhalte und der Presse als eine Erscheinung von Modernisierungsprozessen bildete die thematische Bandbreite der Vorträge, die in erweiterter Fassung in einem Sammelband voraussichtlich 2009 erscheinen werden.
The press landscape of Bukovina and neighbouring regions: Protagonists - Contents - Aims, 1900-1945 was the title of an international conference organised by the Centre for European and International Studies Research (University of Portsmouth) and the Institute for German Culture and History of South-Eastern Europe (University of Munich). The conference took place in Chernivtsi (Czernowitz) from 27 to 30 March 2008. The fact that Czernowitz, the former capital of the Habsburg region Bukovina (nowadays the western part of Ukraine), gave the impulse for such a conference is rooted in its history. The city was the scene of an extraordinary and flourishing press after 1900. Its multiethnic and multilingual society spawned a variety of newspapers and journals. This variety was reflected in the topics of the papers given by 14 scholars at the conference, from five countries. Several papers dealt with protagonists, the content of newspapers and the development of the press in general. The proceedings of the conference will be published in 2009.
