The Turkish Cultural Foundation Fellowship Program was established in 2007 to provide support to students, researchers and scholars who have an interest in the art and culture of Turkey and studies related to the preservation of Turkey’s artistic and cultural heritage.
The mission of the TCF Fellowship Program is also to recognize and assist scholars, whose academic achievements and research reflect the commitment of the Turkish Cultural Foundation to disseminating knowledge about Turkey’s cultural heritage.  Józef Tischner Fellowship IWM

Józef Tischner (1931–2000), one of the most eminent contemporary Polish philosophers and the first chaplain of Solidarność, was founding president of the IWM. In his memory, the Józef Tischner Fellowship has been granted to junior researchers from Poland and young Polish- American scholars since 2003. The fellowship is open to all academic disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences; research proposals related to one of the IWM ’s main fields are strongly encouraged.
Conditions

The Józef Tischner Fellow will be invited to spend a six-month term from July to December 2010 at the IWM to pursue her/his research project while working in residence. The fellow will receive a stipend in the amount of eur 9,000 to cover accommodation, living expenses, travel, health insurance and incidentals during the stay at the Institute. Furthermore, the IWM will provide an office, access to the internet, in-house research facilities and other relevant sources in Vienna. Deadline for applications: February 28, 2010.

Die VolkswagenStiftung und das Humanities Center der Harvard University schreiben im Rahmen einer 2007 für zunächst vier Jahre gestarteten Initiative weitere Annual Fellowships for Post-doctoral Research in the Humanities at The Humanities Center of Harvard University aus. Damit sollen jährlich bis zu vier hochqualifizierte Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler aus deutschen Hochschulen die Möglichkeit erhalten, jeweils ein Jahr (beginnend September 2010) in einem attraktiven akademischen Umfeld geisteswissenschaftlich zu forschen und auf der Basis eines Auftaktworkshops fächerübergreifend Gesprächs- und Arbeitskontakte aufzubauen. Within the Excellence Cluster 264 Topoi - The Formation and Transformation of Space and Knowledge in Ancient Civilizations", which has been set up in the framework of the Excellence Initiative at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt-Universität Berlin, one doctoral grant in Modern German Literature (Ref. no. DS/E-I/02/09) is being offered within the Research Group E-I Knowledge of ancient spaces as processed by the arts. Ancient spaces as spaces of motion in post-ancient times - factography, imagination, and construction. Application deadline: February 28, 2009.

 Fellowships in European History

The Institute of European History will be awarding fellowships for a research stay in Mainz beginning in June 2009 (at the earliest). The Institute promotes research on the historical foundations of Europe - comparative, transnational or transcultural projects dealing with European communication and transfer processes, as well as projects on concepts and perceptions of "Europe" and "Europeaness" in the period since c. 1450. The intellectual, religious and philosophical dimensions of European history are covered as well. Funding ranges from 6 months up to two years. Application deadline: February 15, 2009.

The Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CERES) at the University of Toronto is accepting applications for the Petro Jacyk Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Ukrainian Politics, Culture, and Society for the year 2008-2009. The objective of the Post-Doctoral Fellowship is to support on an annual basis one of the most promising junior scholars studying contemporary Ukraine and thereby to advance academic understanding of Ukrainian politics, culture, and society. The Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) and the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) jointly award Andrew W. Mellon Visiting Fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The three-month fellowships, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, will enable scholars from Eastern and Central Europe to work in Vienna on research projects of their choice within the framework of the scholarly community and activities of the IWM. Diese Position steht allen österreichischen Universitätsangehörigen offen, die wirtschafts- und sozialwissenschaftlich interdisziplinär im Sinne Joseph A. Schumpeters arbeiten.
